    Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror

Guys, My Stinger is the first car that I've owned with an auto dimming rear view mirror. I'd say it's nowhere near as effective as the manually adjusted dimming mirror in my previous Falcon XR6 Turbo ... and all other cars with a manual rear view mirror. When I switch the mirror on and off...

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Yes. An interesting tradition: The Pilgrims were the English settlers who came to North America on the Mayflower and established the Plymouth Colony in what is today Plymouth, Massachusetts, named after the final departure port of Plymouth, Devon. Their leadership came from the religious...

    Valve stem cleaning issues

Thanks z/kG70. I'd like to see Kia fit port fuel injection to the V6 Stinger to give the inlet valves a wash. A bit like the V8 Mustang. I don't have a catch can fitted. I am trying to figure out if it's a critical issue or if the factory servicing is good enough to prevent sooty inlet...

    Valve stem cleaning issues

I can think of a scenario where a catch can might void the Kia warranty. If an owner buys a catch can without baffles, fabricating and fitting a home made baffle substitute. A small piece (loose screw or piece of stainless steel wool used as a baffle etc) is sucked into the engine.

    Valve stem cleaning issues

Thnaks z/kG70. How often does Kia (as opposed to the dealer) specify the use of Injector Cleaner and Intake Manifold / Valve Cleaner? I guess that the dealers might try to flog injector and intake manifold cleaners at every service? What's Kia likely to say if an owner asks if it's OK to...

    Valve stem cleaning issues

Guys. A few thoughts on keeping valve stems clean. I've got two bottles of Castrol Group 4 full synthetic oil. My Kia dealer recommends NOT using it. This may be the issue. Stingers need an oil with low evaporation to reduce oil film feeding through the PCV and onto valve stems. Correct...

    KIA - Product Improvement Suggestions.

Kia. I hope that you read comments from Stinger owners on this forum. I'd like to suggest a few product improvement for future Stingers Forum members. This is obviously my wish list. I'd be interested to read what others think. * Fit hydraulic lifter valve lifters to avoid the need for...

Auto Hold vs Idle Stop & Go??

Yes. I found the dang switch when I had a closer look. It was right under my nose!

Auto Hold vs Idle Stop & Go??

My car is a 330S. It doesn't have the Auto Hold switch near the Drive Mode knob. I haven't seen an Auto Hold switch anywhere. If I hadn't seen "Auto Hold" light up on the tacho, I'd have remained totally unaware that such a thing existed. As far as I am aware, there are two things I can do...

Auto Hold vs Idle Stop & Go??

DJT: Why do I have to stop doing that? Do you think that I'm hitting the hand brake before the car has stopped? Just to clarify, I am activating the hand brake after the car has stopped. Let's know if we've misunderstood each other. I have no idea why the Auto Hold light came on. When I...

Auto Hold vs Idle Stop & Go??

Guys, Driving my Stinger yesterday, I noticed a light on the tacho that said "Auto Hold". I had no idea what it meant. I'm still not too sure. Checking for info on Auto Hold, I've now encountered another term: Idle Stop & Go. What's the difference between Auto Hold Idle Stop & Go? I...

    Stinger Burn Out Switch DIY

Fair comment Jamesc. And if the plan is to sell a car, make sure you remove the windscreen washer bottle from the boot BEFORE prospective buyers turn up for a test drive. :ROFLMAO: Back in the 90's, I was enjoying a drive through the winding roads of the Mt Dandenongs when I detected...

    Stinger Burn Out Switch DIY

A work mate needed a car for his wife. He found a Datsun 240K in the classifieds and rocked up for a test drive. He spied a windscreen washer bottle in the boot and asked the seller what it did. The goose who was trying to sell the car stated that it squirted DIESEL onto the two rear tyres to...

2021 Stinger is looking really sweet

In Australia they're talking about the same 3.3L engine with (wait for it) another 2kws. WOW??? They WILL NOT entice me to trade up for another 2 kws. The 3.5L engine with circa 300 kws (similar to the next WRX STI) might make it worth updating to the new Stinger. It's so DANG hard to...

    Radiator Stop Leak OK?

Thanks guys. I see no loss of fluid and the November service will rock around soon enough. I will raise the issue with my local deal then. But if anybody has any info on the issue it'd be nice to know. Does Kia poke around this web site to determine customer concerns? PAH

    Radiator Stop Leak OK?

Guys, My 2019 Stinger V6 has done a mere 5500 kms. It's not yet been back to Kia for its 12 months service. I can smell glycol coolant. Others on this site have noticed the coolant smell and raised the issue with Kia and the results it seems have been mixed. There's no evidence of a...

    Fuel mileage

I've seen a best figure of 6.8 L/100 kms. That's 34.6 MPG (US) or 41.5 MPG (UK). I didn't think to take a photo. The car achieved this figure driving from Melbourne to Sydney on the Hume Highway. It's a 4 lane highway from end to end so there's no need to use heaps of throttle when...

Windscreen Wipers: How to turn off auto operation?

DJL. Thanks for that useful info. That sets me for an experiment. If I apply car polish or Rainex to that area of the windscreen it might prevent beads of water ... and that might slow the wiper frequency down. I'll give it a try.

Turns out 'recommended' Premium gas doesn't do much

Top Shelf premium fuel becomes a MUST with most after market tunes. The fact that Kia sets up Stingers to run on 91 RON leaves plenty of room for the Tune Houses to alter factory settings to boost power. The big issues with an aftermarket tune are (of course) the possible loss of warranty...

Windscreen Wipers: How to turn off auto operation?

DJL. Thanks again for your help. You could be right. Mine's the 330S poverty pack. The reason that I suspected that I might be able to turn off the auto function is that an LCD on the dash shows AUTO ON-OFF when I turn the wipers to intermittent. That's probably not proof that I can turn...
