    Launch control question.

Yes, one of five displays between the gauges on the dash -- toggle with your steering wheel button.

    Launch control question.

Probably not much difference. If you read the Car and Driver review of a pre-production Stinger, that car did not have the Launch control, and it ran 4.4 sec. 0-60 with (apparently) a simple power-brake launch.

2018 Kia Stinger GT: the good and the bad

A couple of personal responses. JMHO. The car is built and advertised as a GT, not a track or strip car, although it defends itself well in those categories. I bought mine for a Grand Touring car and hours on the road at 2,000 RPM with an exhaust note competing with the excellent HK stereo is...

    MAY ONLY Stinger programs

Do I read that right, that the "8 AT" means 18" All-Terrain wheels and tires? No 19"? Or is that something else?

Who's been seeing more Kia Stinger commercials lately?

Saw one on the Smithsonian Channel yesterday. They seem to be scattering them around on premium channels.

New Stinger owner X2 in Nixa, MO

Sounds good. I'm retired so not much on the schedule outside of several road trips. I'm gone from the 4th to the 14th so maybe we can find a time and add a couple more.

    Adding an additional lower-front sensor?

Mine seems to work OK for curbs just barely high enough to catch the front end. But I'm very careful when parking against those concrete parking bumpers. My G8 had an extremely low front end and I was always scraping pavement coming out of driveways with a dip. I just learn where the front...

New Stinger owner X2 in Nixa, MO

I guess by "the city" you mean Springfield. I bought mine from Superior Kia in Fayetteville. I know they just sold a microblue GT2. None out of Joplin that I know of, but I don't talk to those guys because they were overpriced on their cars so they might have sold one that I don't know about...

New Stinger owner X2 in Nixa, MO

Well, they are getting closer. Maybe a SW Missouri get-together one of these days. Neosho is not close but there should be one or two in NW Arkansas as well.

    Fuel pump failure

Must be an isolated incident. Many of the test cars have many thousands of miles on them, and the engine has been used by Genesis for a couple of years now. All Kia Optimas are GDI.

How often do you polish and wax your car?

I'm a bit different than many people here because I don't spend $thousands on ceramic coatings, wraps, clear bras and other add-ons. I take a brand new car, prep the surface as needed (minimal if any clay bar), then wax with a good carnuba/polymer paste wax. All my washes are "as needed" which...

How to permanently disable Auto Start/Stop

Slightly O.T. here. [offtopic] It is common knowledge that the amount of pressure on the brake pedal will determine if the ISG initiates or not. On my GT2, a light pedal pressure, just enough to keep the car from moving on all but a steep grade, is sufficient to prevent the ISG from...

Lost a race against an Audi S4

I'm with MarkyMark. Stoplight racing is too risky for tickets because it's usually in traffic areas where you can't watch everywhere for police. It's also very expensive to replace a set of those 19" tires every 10,000 miles or less. I am not an "aggressive" driver, but I am an opportunistic...

I believe I clocked 4.3s 0-65mph using launch control, is this car underrated from the factory?

Car and Driver had a pre-production RWD Stinger with no launch control and clocked 4.4 in their review.

Lost a race against an Audi S4

Audi claims the same 0-60 times as the Stinger at 4.7 sec. Car and Driver says 4.3 sec. in their test (they got 4.4 for the Stinger.) The 2018 went away from the dual-clutch transmission to a ZF torque converter 8-speed. Governed top end is 150.

How many people have received a thumbs up from other drivers on the road?

No thumbs-up yet, but I've nearly broken a few necks and caused a couple of near accidents from people trying to figure out what it is.

Kia Stinger front and side vents air flow

Yes, lots of fine gravel that I hose out when I wash the car, but no paint chips anywhere.

Are you looking at the top trim level or lower levels. Only the top level trims get the bright LED lights, I think.

World Car Awards 2018: Kia Stinger and Hyundai Kona Narrowly Missed Out Being 'Top Three In The World'

A lot of this depends on how features are weighted. All cars (and UV's) are a compromise between handling vs. comfort, features vs. cost, power vs. economy, etc. There is also no clear distinction between value and price in these listings. I personally find the Camry to be one of the most...

Do you wave at other Stinger drivers?

I usually just flash the lights when passing a familiar car going in the other direction. Haven't seen any Stingers on the road yet.
