I just filled my GTO today, and although we have perhaps the cheapest regular (87) gas in the U.S., the gap between 87 and 91 today was $0.60/gal. So the gap may be based on the base price of regular 87, or the price of 91 may be more nationally based than 87 which is more locally priced...

Wife's DD, so if she wants to go, she can choose between the GTO 6-speed and the Stinger 8-speed slushbox. But she grew up driving grain trucks for her father during harvest, so she can handle a stick just fine. Trouble is, I KNOW which one she will pick. [driving]

Stinger is doing a bit better but there are only 24 of them in my "district" according to my dealer in a phone conversation this morning. Most seem to be in Korea, Canada, Australia, NZ and on the east and west coast in the U.S. (I assume these are total figures and not just the U.S.?)

Damage aside, the one thing that I can't quite see is spending the money to replace the bumper on a car that almost no one would recognize as "different" or "custom" except for Stinger owners and body shop technicians.

Somehow it seems the default 19" wheels have larger openings -- the better to show the "Brembo" on the calipers. Both look good.

If the owners manual says "at least 87 octane" then 87 should be safe if not optimum. Modern engines have knock sensors containing piezo-electric crystals that are usually screwed into the block and are calibrated to recognize unwanted pre-ignition. They simply send the info to the computer...
