Kia Stinger Out The Door Price Thread

Protection packages are really just insurance policies sold by dealers for extra profit. The policies are almost always from some insurance company, not from Kia. Be very careful before you agree to pay for one. If you take care of your stuff, it is almost always cheaper to self-insure for...

    New from Michigan

Not exactly a "little" car at 4,000+ pounds, but maybe compared to a truck .... Love the blue, but my GTO is same color blue and my HiChroma Red replaced a red G8. Couldn't have TWO blue cars in the same garage, could I? [biggrin]

Kia Stinger Out The Door Price Thread

I would shop the car around unless you just absolutely cannot find a color and options you think you MUST have and only one dealer has it. Either way, let them know you're shopping and tell them there is nothing you need to be at the dealership for. I had one dealer try to pressure me and I...

    Kia Finacing question...

Good question. I would think the payment would be lower. The other way, they would have to hold the down payment and apply it monthly until it was depleted. That might be possible, but it would likely be a non-starter with today's totally computerized systems. In other words, it would be a...

Does Kia have any warranty on the brakes?

To be honest, I have no idea since I never touched them. Both my '05 GTO and the '08 G8 GT came from the GM Holden Commodore plant in Australia. My GTO has PBR brakes. There was no visible marking on the calipers on the G8 GT that I remember. The G8 was a long distance road car and although...

    Science behind cracked plugs?

A lot of spark plug "science" is trial and error. The plugs transfer heat into the heads by thread contact. If you increase the boost pressure, it gives more oxygen for more fuel, and hence more power. But a more dense fuel/air mix requires more coil power to fire the spark across the plug...

How many people warm up their Stinger before driving?

Depends on ambient temperature. Warming the car up to operating temperature is a lot more than the engine coolant, it's also the transmission, engine oil, differential, transfer case, wheel bearings and stub shaft CV joints. Driving gently warms the car up more quickly and completely and...

Does Kia have any warranty on the brakes?

I defer to @MulinatoR. I drove my Pontiac G8 GT for 200,000 miles on the original pads, so wearing out brakes in 12,000 miles is -- well, unbelievable -- not to mention that I need to go back and RTFM. [8]

Does Kia have any warranty on the brakes?

Most dealers will replace warped rotors (which should never happen if you break them in properly during the first 1,000) but pad wear is your problem. It's in the warranty manual.

    Carnauba or a Polymer?

The best waxes can go on in the sun. There is no reason to need for a carnuba/poly wax to "dry."

    Possible fuel gauge issue...

Two possibilities. One is that I have found some fuel pumps at gas stations that shut off prematurely. The mechanism that activates the auto-shutoff on the pump handle doesn't allow a full fill. Sometimes slowing the flow down manually will enable you to get a full tank. The other is that...

2018 Stinger GT2 - Exiting the Hype Train

Yes, he gets some of his facts twisted at times, such as the comment early in the driving portion when he disregards the fact that you can disable traction control. My GT2 is totally squeak and rattle-free. Lovely car.

Who's received their free Harman Kardon Soho headphones?

    None here. March purchase GT2.

    Carnauba or a Polymer?

I used Maguire's Gold Class carnuba/polymer paste wax. I think polymers last longer, carnuba's are reported to leave a better shine. Go figure..... I used Black Magic liquid poly on my '05 GTO and it looks like new, but they haven't made that wax in several years.

New guy here, doing research on a possible Stinger purchase

Well, take a day and watch all the online reviews of the Stinger. Then check the J.D. Power ratings for Kia in the past few years. Then go drive one.

    Android auto stopped working?

I have always found Bluetooth to be a bit flaky, not just in the car but on my laptops and cell fone. It is simply not very robust technology in my experience. Whether it is a matter of signal interruption, multiplexing distortion or whatever, it just sometimes loses connection. My problem...

    Android auto stopped working?

Only problem I've had is that Waze can drop offline. After I input a route, it will work for a while (maybe an hour or more), then I get a sudden blank screen, the Waze app reboots to a generic (no route) screen. I have to go back to the Waze menu and re-enter the route and it starts working...

What oil type is going in your Kia Stinger? Synthetic, Synthetic Blend or Regular Oil?

The manual says GF-4. All GF-4 oils are full synthetic. The reason is because of the immense heat at the turbo shaft bearing that destroys non-synthetic oil and causes turbo shaft bearing failure. Mobil 1 and other full synthetic oils can stand up to that torture for 6,000 miles without...

    Launch control question.

I don't know if it's engine oil or transmission oil temperature. My Kia techs at the dealership didn't know either. It's not in the owner's manual. As I posted elsewhere, if you have an engine coolant temperature gauge, what is the purpose of an engine oil temperature gauge? They are so...

Which Oil Temperature in the LCD?

I don't know if it applies to all trim levels, but on the GT2 there is an "Oil Temperature" reading in the LCD screen between the gauges. That normally stabilizes at 200?F. The question is what oil temperature is that, engine oil or transmission oil? Both run in approximately the same ranges...
