Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Actually both the GTO and G8 weren't that bad on fuel. My GTO will run about 23-24 highway and the G8 the same. The LS96 has the 4-cyl. fuel cutout under light loads which helps. It does show how good GM can be, although again, both those cars are Holden products with Bowling Green, KY...

    $80k for a Kia Stinger?

Oops! Stealership price at $80K. Maybe it has a full tank of gas?? [dunno]

Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Yes, it will be interesting to see how well the Stinger sells. It is a bit pricey for the "kid" market segment and not "badgey" enough for the status-seekers. It is a geek car, and the world is full of so many boring cars and UV's these days that one wonders where the car guys like me are. I...

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

Depends on what sensors throw codes. If you generate more power, there is more torque. If there is a torque reading on the LCD screen on the dash, then either that reading is a guesstimate based on some dumb pre-programmed values for the stock engine, OR it is going to show more torque due to...

Kia Stinger Badge - Rebadge, Debadge or Leave it Stock , what is your preference?

I don't think it's fair to Kia that built this car to hide that fact from the public. They deserve the credit. If you are seeking status, then put a big Mercedes star on the hood or a BMW logo on the deck lid. My badges will be Kia but the "E" badges with the original Kia on the hood because...

Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Nice post, MarkyMark. Like the old story of the blind men inspecting the elephant, each of us sees the Stinger a bit differently, I suspect. I agree that the engineering focus is good. But all cars are a compromise. Obviously 25mpg is not "world class" fuel economy on the highway with the...

    $80k for a Kia Stinger?

They will keep it on the showfloor for a few months and then sell it for what it's worth. Or find some idiot with more money than brains who will bargain them down to $52,000.

FS Lujack Kia of the Quad Cities - The Midwest Premier Kia Dealer

MurlinatoR, I see the port for that GT2 was Tacoma, WA. How are these being shipped? I'm guessing by rail because of roads in the winter, then transport short haul? I also thought I saw some coming into New Orleans, LA.

Which Kia Stinger trim will you purchase?

I did a lot of research including looking at every car on every dealer lot for 500 miles around and came up with nothing. Too many all-black which is impossible to keep clean in the dusty MidWest and too hot in the summer. Quite a few GT2's in black. A couple GT1's but either RWD or no...

Yeah, thanks. I really didn't need to hear that. [mecry]

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

I don't know. It depends on what is recorded. I'm a GM guy so I'm out of my ballpark on this one. Just passing along what I know about GM stuff. I'm guessing that some sensor somewhere would be showing an abnormal value. There is a torque reading on the dash, and I don't know where that...

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

No, there is a difference between the ECU controlling inputs vs. a simple recording function of what happened to the car prior to a malfunction. The recording function would have no control over anything, just watching sensor readings.

Which Kia Stinger trim will you purchase?

Well, they build them and ship them in batches on huge cargo liners. If your spec was available, sitting on a dock somewhere, then it would already be built and just had to be found and transported to your dealer. My spec was nowhere to be found (simple enough red GT1 AWD DriveWise.) The...

Which Kia Stinger trim will you purchase?

Same choice I made. Not enough difference between the GT1 AWD DriveWise and the GT2 to merit the $4,000 difference to me. Mine is due early March although I have not gotten a serial number yet. Ordered 3 weeks ago.

Noisy startup and ? solid lifters?

There was one comment somewhere that the 3.3 has solid lifters. Is that true? [???:)] Can't believe they would put those in a daily driver in these days of hydraulics....

    LAP3 Uncle Chip review

I don't know enough about the system to be able to comment on TJH's post. One needs to know the sensors used in the entire system and what they are capable of reading. I don't own a service manual. It is one thing to "fool" the system into allowing more boost pressure, but unless the other...
