Kia Stinger Out The Door Price Thread

Stinger GT2 AWD
$52300 MSRP
$48300 Negotiated Price
-$6500 Lease Cash
=$41800
-$7000 Trade-in
=$34800+tax/fees

First time leasing (I normally buy/traditional finance) and pretty happy with my result. Purchased May 31, 2018. Got notification of new account from KMF this morning and requested lease buyout package.

FUN FACT: Dealership finance guy told me if I don't keep the lease for at least 3 months and make 3 payments, the lease cash is nullified. Confirmed with KMF on the phone that he is full of crap. Also, KMF account page said I have to contact the dealership to get lease buyout package. If you have the same message, just call KMF directly and request it. I didn't have to actually contact my dealership in any way and deal with any run around BS I'm sure the finance guy would have given me. I hope the rest of the buyout goes smoothly. *crosses fingers*

No we did 84 months which is why the interest is higher.

Dan, why didn't you lease/buyout? You could have gotten a GT2 for less than you paid for this...

Well I tried a few credit unions and my own bank and they were no bueno. So I couldn't secure a loan to buy it out the way you mentioned earlier.

I wish I had more experience in this my man but you get swindled all you can do is learn from your mistakes.

Try them again now that they see you got a loan from Kia.

Hello guys thanks for all your info, can someone tell me if it helps to buy the car in cash, would it give me negotiating power to get the car cost down? Thank you so much.

That's a common misconception. Dealers get their money either way so it doesn't matter if you pay cash or finance. If you have the money follow the lease and buyout that's been discussed many times on this forum. It's the best deal.

I got the best deal I have seen by anyone offered to me yesterday... But they low balled me on my trade. Ruined the deal.

Ceramic Silver RWD GT2... $500 below invoice and free tint. Bummed out!

Hang in there Matt! You know the dealers have a LOT of GT2's sunbathing on their lots right now - a LOT. The initial uptake of them was pretty huge, but then that big enthusiast market was quickly saturated to that sell-through rate. Kia now has LOT of 2018's on their hands (again GT2s).

Thus, come August/September Kia is going to offer all kinds of goodies to move them off the lots and reset for the 2019's in October.

New here, thought I add my 2 cents and ask this: In Texas at least, you can do a single-pay lease and pay only 1.5% sales tax, plus get a much lower Money factor and applied to the RESIDUAL only. So using this strategy, start negotiating a low price, get a single-pay lease and the 6,500 lease cash, then buy out the lease.... seems the ultimate deal. Has anyone done this? That's how I did it last time on a Lexus GS....

Why does a lower MF really matter? You're wiping it out in full anyway.

After I wrote this, I thought about it and not a 100%v sure - , I believe the money factor is included in the single pay lease $$$ you have to fork over, but you still save on sales tax. So, if you then invest the remaining money to buy out the lease in a 3 year 2+% CD and THEN pay off the car... I may need to do some numbers magic to figure it out.

Why is the Tax so low? The MF doesn't matter as it is replaced as soon as you pay if off with your new interest rate (assuming you are not paying cash).

In Texas, when you lease, you pay sales tax on the FULL sales price of the car, not just the depreciation, which of great disadvantage to a consumer. I think Texas law makes this less painful by making the tax 1.5% for single-pay leases. I have done this a couple times now and have offers from other makes in hand, and indeed got that low sales tax rate each time.

All I can find is this:

Texas
The sales tax is charged on the purchase price of the car even if it is leased. The sales tax has to be paid up-front with no exception.

Where is the exception documented? I'd love to see if it's a thing in AZ.

Not sure about formal documentation, but I have now leased two cars that way and have offers from Audi, Jaguar and Lexus again without any pushback from the dealers.
