What I Drive
2015 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Ultimate
#2
I joined to keep informed of the progress of the Stinger's debut into the market. It intrigues me as a potential fun family car.
I currently have a Rogue for grocery and dog hauling, and my daily driver is a '15 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Ultimate 6-speed, moderately modified and customized. My show car and occasional errand runner is a '05 T Bird, also modified and customized. I love the Genny, but the wife is not perfectly comfortable in it - seat is rather low (we're "Senior Citizens"). The Stinger is unlikely to accommodate my larger dog. I wonder if the Stinger GT could replace one of these; the driveway is getting full. Very curious as to how the Stinger will price out, and already saving for it.

New today. May consider the Stinger to replace our beloved 2009 Pontiac G8 GT.

Welcome! When the G8 first came out it was one of my favorite cars, too bad Chevy couldn't sell enough to justify keeping the SS.

THANKS for the kind welcome! While the Chevy SS is a nice vehicle we much preferred the styling of our Pontiac G8 GT to the relatively mundane styling of the Chevy SS. Plus the SS was roughly $50k out the door, making it an easy decision to opt for $50k Corvette and just keep our G8 long term for the best of both worlds. At nearly 92k miles it's been a solid and reasonably reliable vehicle overall since new. It's also excellent in the snow with proper tires and a hoot to drive!

Yeah no doubt the G8 has better styling over the SS.

Welcome.

Well depends on how large your dog is. Unfortunately the trunk of the Stinger looks to be pretty shallow compared to the other liftback sedans on the market.

Trunk Space vs the Competition

What I Drive
2017 Fusion Sport
#12
Hello,

New member here. About 7 months ago I bought a 2017 Ford Fusion Sport 2.7L V6 AWD TT and I am a member of the forums there. That car and form unleashed an inner car guy in me that I didn't know I had. Nice performance tune and a few other mods and I love that car. I caught wind of this car from those forums and it has peaked my interest. I feel like I am cheating on my car being over here, but the extra 1/2 liter displacement and corresponding horses is too tempting not to look into.

I'll take a depreciation hit if I change cars so soon, but I can't wait to drive this car to see if it will be worth it.

Woo-hoo! I got to sit in a Stinger!

Just joined but I've been watching the progress of the Stinger for a few months. I had a chance to see the Stinger at the DFW Auto Show in March. It turns out that if you arrive at the show as soon as it opens, and you tell the KIA hosts that this is the only reason you came to the show, they'll stop the turntable, let you hop over the barrier, and let you sit in it. Cheers to the Kia folks and their upcoming "Stinger". Can't wait for it to hit the US market!!!

I'll have to remember that, I was also at the DFW car show this year, my pictures here http://www.kiastinger.org/forum/threads/92-Kia-Stinger-at-DFW-Auto-Show

How was it, getting into the seats? Easier than a coupe? By the looks of it there, it seems pretty low. A selling factor to replace my Genny Coupe would be ease of access for my wife.

My wife feels the same way....she doesn't want to fall into the seat. Thinking back, it felt similar to my Mini Cooper so I'm convinced it will be ok. It certainly wasn't anywhere near as low as some of other cars I sat in that day.

Update: I'll continue to watch this forum.
Last week I traded my Genesis Coupe for a new Genesis G80 V8 Ultimate. I considered waiting for the Genesis Sport, which has the layout of the Stinger GT (RWD V6 TT), or waiting for the actual Stinger. Or waiting even longer for the Genesis G60 Coupe. But I needed a sedan now. So, I can wait while the new engine gets through its growing pains, and it experiences the usual second-year improvements in options, colors, etc. Then, if it's not too low-slung for comfort, I'll be ready.

Congrats. My neighbor has one of those, but with the V6. They're beautiful looking cars.
