I never thought about using a dry drop-in with more pleats to reduce airflow resistance while keeping the filter media dry (oily vapor skews output of hot-wire MAF sensor) and keeping filtering performance intact. It's also cheaper than K&N in initial purchase.

In our case, we don't need to worry about the hot-wire MAF as now a days all cars are using a MAP setup.
