Oil Catch Can - Evidence-Based Study?

Greetings Fellow Enthusiasts! I have searched these forums for a factual study of OCC effectiveness on the 3.3L V-6 Stinger GT, and can find no one-stop-shop of data. For the sake of accurate data collection, it would be interesting if actual drivers of this exact vehicle & engine, who...

    RaceChip vs JB4

Thanks for your response. I am hoping for detailed particulars (being a retired engineer), sort of an A : B comparison detailing good vs bad. Thanks again!

WTB Wanted - Continuous Rear Stop / Tail Light / Turn Light

Well, that "someone" should be posting on the BEST Stinger forum (this one)! Thank you, I will check it out.

    RaceChip vs JB4

I know this is an ancient thread, but would appreciate advice from users of both systems. Are there any negative effects or control issues on engine / transmission / drive-train with either JB4 or Racechip? I would not want to change anything else on the car, and am looking to maximize...

WTB Wanted - Continuous Rear Stop / Tail Light / Turn Light

Wish some enterprising soul would develop an LED light assembly to replace the existing thin red plastic piece on the tailgate, which spans between the right & left light assemblies. The new light assembly would need to have: Plug & play harness; ~12 LED locations spanning across the piece...

Engine Air Filter Replacement / Brace Torque Specs 3.3 L V6 Engine

Greetings all! I searched high & low across the internet (including this great forum), for torque specifications for reinstalling the radiator braces (what many mistakenly refer to as suspension tower braces), and found nothing. So, I thought I'd post my experience here. Using "reverse...

How does your Stinger handle in the snow?

SoCal - you never mentioned if your Stinger was AWD or rear. If you are driving an AWD, traction devices are not required in CA for R1 or R2 conditions, as long as you are running All Season (M+S) at all 4 corners. If you DO want to carry extra traction devices, Kia recommends only...

How does your Stinger handle in the snow?

SoCal - To respond to your original post, my recent experience: Up until a few days ago, my 3 month-old 2018 GT2 AWD was mostly a garage queen, waiting until fair weather. Well, I got tired of waiting, so ... With all the heavy snowfall in the Sierras, I decided to put the Kia to the...

    New to KIA

Regarding Mods, I am still learning my GT2 AWD as a road vehicle (not a track car ... that's enjoyed by my S2000). I haven't yet exceeded the Stinger's capabilities, that will most likely happen when we get dry & warm roads in the spring? Two necessary add-ons I have on all my cars: Street...

    Visibility Question

Rear visibility? We don't need no stinkin' rear visibility! The throttle is your friend [rockon] In all seriousness tho, you get used to it (sort of). I really like the side mirrors. While driving forward, the Blindspot Alert becomes your BFF. Backing up is a cinch with the camera and...

Who uses an automatic car wash on their Stinger?

According to Meguiar's, Blue Coral, and Mothers, the best 'first treatment' is to wash the surface with lots & lots of cool water, to remove most of the dirt (actually extremely fine bits of rock). Don't think I'd ever do a car wash to my GT's finish, not even 'touchless'!

CNET 2018 Kia Stinger long-term update

GREAT ARTICLE ... thank you for sharing this review! I haven't had the joyous opportunity to shred an empty snow-covered parking lot with my new GT2 AWD (yet), but loved reading this real-world experience of the Stinger's competent handling on snowy roads. Not every AWD vehicle has the...

Question about 10 yr extended Full Warranty

So, the short answer is ... if you want "coverage" beyond what KIA offers, you will need to purchase an aftermarket Insurance Policy (it is NOT a warranty). My limited experience is that it is MUCH less expensive to shop and buy online in the comfort of your own home, rather than be pressured...

Question about 10 yr extended Full Warranty

The "2018 Stinger Warranty and Consumer Information Manual" (a 112-page booklet provided with the new car), page 3, details the KIA Warranty Program Coverage. I will try to upload a photo of that page ... (apologies if it doesn't work) I had heard (incorrectly) from a different dealer...

Question about 10 yr extended Full Warranty

That's not entirely correct. Audio / Nav / Entertainment / Battery is only warranted for only 3 years / 36k miles. Regarding Aftermarket Extended Insurance Policies (called WRAP Policies): * Dealerships make HUGE profit off of these, sometimes greater than from the sale of the car. *...

    Dash-Top Red Blinking LED ?

    Dash-Top Red Blinking LED ?

Thanks for your response Devo ... I can see what you are saying. I guess. Parked on the street, in some miserable big city neighborhood, a red blinking LED might deter some gang-banger from stealing a $50,000 KIA. Still, I'm surprised I have no control of turning it off, when the...

    Dash-Top Red Blinking LED ?

What is this? I have searched the (miserable) Owner's Manual several times, and can find no explanation. The LED blinks constantly, while the car sits in my garage ... unlocked, no activity ... for weeks on end! Being an LED, it probably uses minimal power. But, why is it there...

CTEK Multi US 3300 Battery Charger - Review

It gets warm to the touch, but not hot. I have the hard-wire harness connected under hood, at the battery-jump / fuse terminals. I leave the charger on the garage cement floor, next to the passenger-side front wheel, about 6" away from the body (in the event the charger shorts out & goes...
