    Shifting into Manual Mode

Wow. Yeah mine does not do that. That's how it behaves in comfort mode, for me. I wonder if this is a 2017 vs 2018 thing or a regional shift program difference.

    Shifting into Manual Mode

It's a Canadian GT Limited, which is equivalent to an American GT2 plus more interior equipment and features. 3.3T engine. Importantly, it has the electronic console shifter and paddle shifters. Don't all Stingers have paddle shifters? I'll get the build date off the door sill later today.

    Shifting into Manual Mode

I drove all the way to work and home today in manual mode and the car never once shifted to D on its own other than when stopping. Light part throttle in 3rd and 4th around 2000 - 3000 rpm all day long with no change of gear or reversion to D. I don't have an explanation for it, but this is my...

    Shifting into Manual Mode

Well hey...maybe I am crazy and mine is like that too and I've convinced myself otherwise. Maybe some day there will be a tuning option that changes the behavior to the way you like.

    Shifting into Manual Mode

Ok, 2 things. Yes I am 'listening', I just don't agree with the premise of your point. Here are two reasons why: 1. In my car, if I click a paddle in sport mode, it ONLY goes back to "D" under 1 of 2 circumstances: I come to a full stop, or I take it out myself by changing drive mode, holding...

    Shifting into Manual Mode

So.. you are complaining that if you want true manual mode, that you have to put the transmission in sport mode first? I've never heard of a car that doesn't require something similar. Simple solution to that. Sell it and buy a car that behaves the way you want. Sounds like you want something...

What Did You Do With Your Stinger Today?

Honestly it's so easy I don't think it deserves a how-to. Just remove the pop clips under the bottom and the two by the hole, remove the screws nearby, cut a big peice of screen mesh about 12 by 6 inch, mark where the holes go for the pop clips and cut the out with scissors, then pull back the...

What Did You Do With Your Stinger Today?

That stuff is invincible. You can't rip it. I'm pretty confident it will last forever, with the weakest link being how fixed in place it is. Discovered two interesting quirks about the Stinger today: 1. If the engine is off when you are stopped with your foot on the brake in drive, and you...

    Canadians Check-in

I'm in Edmonton. Bought my SWP GT Limited back in January from North Edmonton Kia. I stopped in there the other day to pick up mud guards and noticed they had 7 Stingers in stock in a variety of colours and both trim levels. In case anyone is looking...

What Did You Do With Your Stinger Today?

Installed the OEM mud guards. And while I was at it, I installed some pet resistance PVC door screen in behind the fender liner covering the wheel vents in the front to keep rocks and junk from flying through/into the vent. Cu large pieces of the screen and cut holes for the pop clips...

Kia Stinger Hatch/Trunk Rattle TSB With New Parts

OK, I uploaded the image rather than hotlink it. Should see it now. Yes, that's the point. The guides on the side don't support the weight of the hatch, they only guide it laterally and prevent it from moving side to side. The plastic parts on the hatch sit between the rubber guides not on top...

Here is what the stop looks like with tape applied and reinstalled.

Kia Stinger Hatch/Trunk Rattle TSB With New Parts

Verdict: Success. Rattle free for 2 days and no way in heck are those bump stops going to move in or out on their own. To reiterate, here is what you do: 1. Take out the bump stops from the hatch 2. Stretch 1.25 to 1.5 wraps of nice soft electrical tape around the threaded part of the bump...

Kia Stinger Hatch/Trunk Rattle TSB With New Parts

I think I found a solution for the bumpers backing off on heir own... Which someone mentioned and mine have been doing causing the rattle to return. Get some high quality electrical tape, like 3m supper 33+ and wrap/strech a single layer around the bumpers on the threaded part only. You should...

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic How Long Between Oil Changes?

Just as an aside for those who are not aware, an ACEA A3/B4 oil is substantially better at resisting shear in the punishing world of turbo bearing lubrication than an A5/B5 and is considered 'better'. Larger number is not an upgrade in that case. A5/B5 oils are thin and shear easily by design...

    HUD Not Working Mystery Solved

If you have polarized glasses and you can see the HUD fine then either your glasses are polarized the wrong way or they are not polarized. Tip your head sideways and if the HUD disappears, it's the first. If I doesn't, it's the second. I bought unpolarized Oakley Two Face glasses.

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic How Long Between Oil Changes?

I plan on following the schedule, but replacing just the oil half way through. I bought a vacuum fluid extractor so I can just suck the oil out via the dipstick tube.
