Who looks back and admire their Stinger before walking into the store?

To gain knowledge, learn a few things. My cars were rarely chosen simply because of their looks, good or bad. I'm more of a "form following function, if it looks good, it's a bonus" kind of person. That doesn't mean I don't have taste.

What's your favorite winter tire brand?

My favorite one is the cheapest one available at the time I need to replace them. Any winter tire is better in the wintry conditions than all-season and dedicated summer tires. I avoid the dual-compound type such as Blizzak because I want the meager money to buy them to stretch as far as...

Who looks back and admire their Stinger before walking into the store?

I don't know, the Stinger looks proper, yet, to me, it doesn't have the appeal of the lines on a Corvette or a Nissan Z (Z33 and Z34). I like its long-ish hood and the longer distance of the fender area between the front door leading edge and the trailing edge of the wheel well opening. I like...

My Kia Stinger detailing method, what's yours?

That's a lot of steps just for washing. I use Chemical Guys products too; Honeydew shampoo and V07.

What else is in your garage?

Indeed. Not visible is the license plate, it is POS VETT. Most of my cars have a personalized license plate. The Avalon and the Stinger are currently on temporary plates. The Stinger will likely get the plate inherited from the '18 Silverado that was traded in for. The idea for the Avalon...

    Uniden radar detector any good?

Not into Uniden, I use Valentine One.

New carbon fiber hood for the Stinger

Are there a few photos of the underside of the hood and maybe a couple close-up?

    WTB Wanted: stock exhaust

I doubt it will be the same material, but at this point, restoring the functionality of a busted section of exhaust pipe is a whole lot cheaper and will hold you off until you can get that nice aftermarket exhaust pipes you have always wanted.

    Slight jerk?

There's a chance that it is a defect somewhere around the TC; could be fluid, could be a manufacturing problem, loose flexplate bolt, etc. GM has been going through an iteration of ATF to fix shuddering and Toyota has a "flare up" problem. Who knows what this transmission has.

    Slight jerk?

Was it accompanied by a jump in engine speed? Torque converter lock-up perhaps?

New carbon fiber hood for the Stinger

    Is the extractor functional?

    Curb Weight

Yesterday I put my '18 RWD GT on a scale to satisfy my curiosity. The scale had a 10-lb increment and I have no idea about its maximum capacity. The car tipped the scale at 3,990 lbs with a full fuel tank, basically 4000 lbs or 2 tons. The weight on the rear axle was measured at 1,910 lbs or...

Do performance drop-in air filters work? (answer inside)

I never thought about using a dry drop-in with more pleats to reduce airflow resistance while keeping the filter media dry (oily vapor skews output of hot-wire MAF sensor) and keeping filtering performance intact. It's also cheaper than K&N in initial purchase.

Does installation require removal of the front bumper?

    "Part Time" AWD

Because RWD is lighter, simpler, and cheaper. Having a mechanical engineering background compounded with a significant tendency toward high-powered RWD cars make AWD cars unattractive to me. In the case of two 4WD/AWD vehicles I'm familiar with, the cost of the hardware is $10/lb. The Stinger...

    Best wheel locks?

Just FYI, wheel locks don't slow down a seasoned wheel thief. EZ Out type of extraction socket/tool will undo just about any lock without significant increase in time. IMO, multiple locks suggest the perceived high value of the wheels and make them even more attractive to thieves.

Can't get enough in Clarksville TN

What a happy ending! Congratulations to Dave and Raven [woot] Jason, you're the man! [rockon]

    Winter Wheels & Tires

Does 17" wheel fit over the Brembo calipers? Has anyone tried?

Would you purchase a Stinger GT with a manual?

I want a Stinger with a V8 coupled to a 3-pedal 6-speed manual transmission in RWD with a stiff, clutch-plate type LSD. No moonroof, no ADAS, no electronic nannies, add brake cooling ducts, Recaro front seats, and more steering angle [like]

    Those pesky HK headphones....

I have not received any headphone from KIA. I have a strong feeling that it might have to do with the fact that I just bought the car yesterday [confuse]
