I put some vinyl behind the stops over the weekend. Huge improvement. They were probably between 1/16th - 1/8th inch thick. While I still have some creaking over differential surfaces, the hatch noise over speed bumps is gone. Now I have a slight creak in one of the door panels to deal with.

I took mine to the dealer and they supposedly fixed it-but they didn't. I have yet to pull the guides off myself in order to check the thickness of the shims, but I will be doing so. You may want to do the same. It is not that big of a deal-you may need a torx bit (or similar) if you don't...

I'm assuming there is is a clear coat over the color. If the compound does not work you might try a spray satin clear coat over the whole piece.

My mom bought me the Weathertech cup holder one. It works pretty well other than taking up a cup spot. I only need it when charging. Otherwise i just but the phone in the cup holder itself.

I know some people here in Los Angeles that have had similar damage and were, indeed able to get reimbursed by the bureau of street maintenance. I'm sure it takes a bit of persistent complaining, but worth a try.

I think these cars would look nice with a hood that has a center hump-like an e type jag or an old 240z.

Does anyone know if there is a replacement part for the plastic center spoke of the steering wheel? Not necessarily carbon fiber, but just something that does not look so cheap as that glossy plastic. To me it is the only part of the wheel (and perhaps the whole interior) that really looks...

According to the manual, it is indeed the negative connection point for jumping the car. For the positive, you have to remove the plastic cover with the "+" sign about 18" behind the bolt in question. It is unpainted in order to provide a better connection.
