Hello, I recently bought a Kia stinger about two months ago. This is my second Kia stinger and on this one on start up, there is a popping sound under the dashboard speaker. This sound only occurs on start up and when the car is being turned off and only less no more than 10 seconds but is terribly inconsistent. Sometimes the sound will last 10 seconds, sometimes the sound of the last two seconds, sometimes the sound will go a week without being present. Even though the sound comes from under the dashboard speaker, I do not believe the dashboard speaker has gone bad as during the car ride the speaker is 100% fine. I took it to the dealership because the car is under warranty and they said that they did not know it was happening and left it alone since the sound stopped once it was there. How are the problem still persists on so if anybody has any insight on what might be happening, any information would be much appreciated.

Attached is a video of the popping noise.

Welcome, If I were you I would take it to someone that installs stereo's, they should know what that noise is. Sounds like the speakers or the head unit isn't wired right. If that ends up being the problem take it back to KIA an tell them what the problem is & fix the damn thing..

I have this exact issue you do, exact same sound, exact same amount of time it goes on, only on starting and turning the car off.

Did you happen to ever figure out what the issue is?

I have yet to bring it in to fix it as I don't have another vehicle but I found exactly what the problem was in my case.

So... In my car, it is the motor in the AC that switches where the airflow is directed (Body, Feet, Windshield). If I am to cycle through all the modes, nothing occurs until I get back to the body setting. You can try cycling through each of your AC locations and waiting about 5-10 seconds to see if the sound occurs. I found that it is consistently when I turn it to the body setting.

I always leave my AC on the body setting so this occasionally happens upon start up and when I turn the car off. I will say that the problem rarely happens now which probably isn't a good thing, maybe the motor gears are sheering I'm not sure. Either way, I hope this helped and if you go as far as to fix it before I do, please post and let me know the solution you found.

were you ever able to get help from kia? they won’t help me unless the car makes the noise to them and it literally just won’t. third time this week i’ve been here starting and stopping it over and over. and as soon as i go home and park i hear the noise. i want to get this fixed before my warranty is up but i literally cannot because the car won’t make the noise.
