FD43EC25-CD4D-46F7-9A31-2DF5F2CF2A79.jpeg Took my stock GT rwd to the track tonight. Best pass was 12.9 @ 107. Couldn’t cut anything better than a 2.0 60’. Any suggestions? Tried both using launch control and without it.

While I've never tried it at a strip, I've had luck getting RPMs/boost up for a nice RWD burnout by holding the e-brake. If you disable traction and stability control, hold the e-brake while boost builds, then release it when you're ready to launch, it takes off way harder than launch control.

Obviously for us RWD folk you'll get massive wheelspin if the RPMs are too high, but if you get it right you'll get an impressive launch.

I’ll give that a try! I didn’t think that would work being electronic. Thanks!

ET difference between LC and no LC?
First pass - LC in sport mode
13.079 @ 107.21
2.038 60’

2nd pass - no LC (but accidentally left in comfort mode)
13.181 @ 106.93
2.151 60’

3rd pass (no LC, in sport mode)
12.978 @ 107.80
2.052 60’

ETs were almost identical between LC and no LC.
I’m surprised that 2nd pass where I forgot to change modes actually went was fast as it did. The 60’ time definitely suffered though on that one.

The 3 runs were over about a 3 hour period, all an hour apart from each other.

Awesome response, that's the exact info I was looking for!

Weird that the fastest time was No LC/Sport Mode. Wonder why KIA even bothered to include it?

Also, your ET was actually pretty good seeing the DA for that track/time was ~2,000 ft.

Yea I agree, LC seems useless if it won’t build boost off the line. I’ll probably try the brake switch mod I’ve read about next time to try and get out a little harder.

One of the good things about the jb4 is being able to see what's going on in the ecu through datalogs. I just looked at my last log while using LC; there's zero boost until 2200 rpm and throttle doesn't open all the way until 20 mph.

So, you're right, LC is basically useless and the burnout switch or e-brake method is the way to go for a good launch.

Good to know! I’m going to try that e-brake method as well to see if I can figure that out. Would rather do that then splicing into the harness for the brake mod.
