I have a 2022 gt2. Can i play an Apple Ipod with a adapter cable through the usb port?

Thanks for the reply. I did try it with a cable that worked in my wifes truck and it started to charge it but would not regonize it to play. The manual says you have to plug your device directly into the usb port but you cant do that with an ipod without a cable. I dont if that is correct and i am having trouble getting an answer.

I just heard back from Kia, they said if we are using the large 30 pin connector cable it will not work with this car. That sucks but thats the info.

I have a 2019 GT2 and I have been using my IPOD Classic 6th and 7th generation using a 30 pin connector in my Stinger and it works just fine. It displays the album art as it is on my IPOD. I load everything on my IPOD in ALAC (Lossless) to get CD quality and one HUGE advantage an IPOD (or IPOD Touch, Iphone) has over the use of a USB stick is that it has gapless playback when the original album was mastered in that way. Listening to an album that was meant to flow gaplessly with 1-2 seconds gaps is very jarring IMHO. This is especially true with live albums. Think Pink Floyd WYWH, The Beatles Abbey Road, The Cars and many other titles. Obviously, KIA may have changed what the head unit will play....

Mine is a 2022 and my ipod will not work. The unit only accepts files in FLAC so i got a memory stick and did the conversion. Its a pain but it does work.

This is one of those "Upgrades" that may seem minor to KIA and some owners but I don't see what they have added to enhance the system now that they removed that feature/ability. My 2019 plays FLAC and although I am a Hi-Res fan, I will take gapless playback in Apple Lossless any day in the car. I am in the process of converting my old Iphone 7 over to a music player so I can use it for the car play as well.
