Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

^^^ This! Most of the time I'm driving to work while listening to pods casts and driving like "seasoned" citizen. Sometimes after a rough day at work, its nice release some stress via my right foot on the way home. [driving] I wouldn't buy a Stinger because I WANT high MPG's, but its nice to...

    Dragstrip Tips N Tricks

Ahh good point about the helmet! I never ran my STI at the drag strip and my other cars were 14 to 15 seconds in the 1/4 so I never had to worry about bringing a helmet. Robz32, Thanks for information about the tire pressures!

Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Thanks for the info about the paddle shifter and your MPG's! If I can 30+ MPG cruising at 70 to 75MPH on the interstate I'd be stoked! Do you use the auto stop/start feature when driving in town and you get stuck at a red light?

Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Wow, you must have a lot of restraint to get 27MPG after putting a tune on the car! The STI had a Cobb v2 AccessPort custom tuned by a shop in Houston, TX and 15MPG was when I was hammering it, and 18 to 19 if I was driving like a granny. The problem I have is my work commute is 100% city with...

noob question about entering this race today

I realize this thread is a little old but just in case this type of event comes up again... I'm pretty sure that is a 1/8 mile track not a 1/4 mile track. Your "average Joe" isn't going to own a vehicle that runs a 5.8 index in the 1/4 mile and if they did, the buy in would have to be a lot more...

    Dragstrip Tips N Tricks

What kind of tips and tricks are people using for the Stinger at the drag strip? Recommendations for tire pressures for RWD vs AWD? I'm guessing for RWD you'd you max out the front tire pressure and drop a little off the rear tires? Does anyone remove the plastic engine cover and leave the...

Autox and tracking folks what helmet are you using?

^^^ This 100% Always try on the helmet brand and model (if possible) you plan to buy. I have a smaller head and with some brands I needed a Small while others were a Medium. I ended up going with an HJC motorcycle helmet since they were on the cheap side but had the features I wanted. Also pay...

AWD vs. RWD on a GT?

I'm with Habu968. If it doesn't snow very often where you live, I wouldn't spend the extra money for the AWD... UNLESS, you plan on doing every possible mod and are REALLY into getting the lowest 60 ft time at the drag strip. 2 of my previous vehicles were an 05 Subaru STI (AWD) and an 02 BMW...

Same size tires front and rear on GT

One other thing I'd like to mention, is under-sizing the tire puts your rims at extreme risk of curb rash. I've had my tires save me a few times when I cut a corner just a little too sharp while parking and felt the tire start rubbing but I had just enough time to stop before the rim made...

Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Ckeeler, Thanks for the info about the downshifts. Pchek, That's impressive you are getting 27MPG! I have a 7 or 8 mile work commute and right now in my 2015 2.4L Accord, I get b/w 28 to 33mpg depending on how long I have to sit at traffic lights for. The same commute in my STI was 15 to 18MPG...

    Drop-in VS. Air intake System

While the WAI description (I gotta admit that made me lol) is true when the car is at a stand still, I'll bet you a dozen donuts that if the car is moving as slow as 5 to 10mph the IAT will be within a few degrees of a CAI. Once the car is moving even a little bit, the majority of the air...

    Launching..

I'm not familiar with the transmission in the Kia Stinger, but from other automatics I've own, the torque converter stall speed (RPM) is what determines the maximum RPM I could achieve when power braking. Does the Kia Stinger not use a torque converter or does it have some wizardry that allows...

Who is considering purchasing a KIA for the first time because of the Stinger?

Thanks Spider! I noticed while researching the rebate an incentives for the Stingers online, they have some insane cash bonus offers for the 24 month lease. I want to say it was over $6k! I need to see if there are any posts that show how to calculate the total cost of a lease vs writing a...

    Kia Stinger Dyno Results Thread

If you want to convert STD correction factor to SAE correction factor, the general rule of thumb is subtract 3 or 4%. If you see a Dyno graph with a STD HP rating of 400, you can multiply by .96 or .97 and get a rough idea of the SAE HP numbers, which would be 384 to 388 HP. Hope this helps!

Too funny! I used to own an 02 330Ci and a 03 530i. I can't get over all the bells and whistles Kia offers for prices that are $10k less than a comparable BMW. Which M3 do you own? I've driven the e36 and e46 M3's and they were ton of fun to drive.
