My dealer charges $70, I think its because of the Stinger requiring 8 quarts of oil.

Good god. $17 a quart? And 0w40?
I can only hope that's a Special Price for the warranty/insurance coverage and they don't charge their customers that rate.

I requested 0W-40. Actually the cost is over $19/qt after tax.

Lol that's hilarious. You can get like 6 quarts of full synthetic for less than $20 at Walmart

Changing your own oil and filter void warranty? Everyone that I've spoken to here in Aus say yes because Kia needs proof it was done by a qualified mechanic. My argument is that an oil change is no harder than filling your tank up with petrol. So do I need a specialist to ensure I'm doing that correctly too?

Anyone had any warranty claims rejected because of DIY servicing?

False. Doing the oil change your self will not void the warranty. I've been doing them myself since day one of ownership and have not had any problems with warranty claims. Just make sure that you keep a log or record (receipts, etc) of when it was made, just in case they ask.

In the USA no, I’m not certain on AUS laws. You’d have to do some googling to determine for sure. Even being false, it’s still a common sales pitch here in the states.
