I see radar detectors in the forum title, but I do not see them mentioned in any threads. Been a countermeasure enthusiast for years, a member of several radar detector and laser jammer forums (nerd), participated in many radar detector/laser jammer "meets" (supernerd). I have two radar guns and one lidar gun (no words for this). If anyone has any questions about CM's let me know. I'm going to try and post pics of my "set ups" in my cars. Does anyone use countermeasures in their Stinger? It will be a must for me as this car could get me in trouble quick!

I am in Houston TX Bought my GT2 RWD in April 2018. Had my Valentine 1 hard wired with remote head the next day. I am looking to add a laser jammer. Had a AL Priority, 3 heads front & 2 heads rear on my 2008 1/2 Mazdaspeed 3 worked great till Harvy flood in August 2017. I see that the Alpha 15 laser jammer will be released soon. So I will wait and see what one I will go with. I just installed Eibach Pro springs and F&R sway bars greatly improved handling over 150+.
Also looking at a Uniden BearTracker 885

Even though V1 is somewhat out dated and not up to par with Uniden and some escorts, still my fav and my daily driver. Some members on RDForum have beta tested the TMG alpha 15 and the results were impressive. I can PM you some info if you want. Good on you with the jammers in TX, they are illegal there but I know many people who live there that still run them. Fix-it ticket vs. 30+ over PSL no contest

Thanks I am in contact with Yolanda at Facets Product Design & Development Ltd. witch is one of the founders of Taiwan Microwave Group(TMG). She will let me know when the Alpha 15 is ready for sale. I am happy with the Valentine 1 and their support with updates.

I just ordered another V1 and hard wire kit from Valentine. FYI, they sell V1's that have been returned after 30 days for $359. Absolutely new and same as unshelved only $40 cheaper. You have to call them though, they do not sell these on-line.

Thanks for this. I was looking for some info on radar dectors and ended up with the Uniden R3. I've been impressed so far with a warning of Ka at least two miles away as we were going towards each other and saw him about a mile and a half down the road. This was a a somewhat hilly road too.

Now, what can one do for laser? Do those coatings on shiny bits actually work?

AL Priority laser jammers can support 3 heads front and 2 heads rear. Cost $1700- $2000. Plus install

So, should I assume laser protection in a can doesn't work?

I really don't know if I want to add a laser jammer to a lease.

AL Priority laser jammers are the best you can buy. I had them on my Mazdaspeed 3 and they defeated laser all the time. Without
the ALP on my car I would of had 6 laser tickets in 2 yrs. All over 100+ MPH...
Coatings do NOT work. So it depend on how prevalent laser speed enforcement is in your area and how fast you travel. You can uninstall and reinstall the ALP on another car.

On the subject of V1, has anyone sent their's in to get updated? Mine is a few years old and I'm contemplating getting it updated or purchasing a new one.

Thanks JAYP, just got off the phone with them. They want $289 for the upgrade, I asked if they used to do it for $200 and they said no lol. Essentially I'll be saving $150 by sending my old one in for a new one.

Boy that site is crappy. If you don't know their terms, it is difficult to understand.

Even after reading the definition of TX sensor, I'm not sure if it's just a sensor or a hammer. Therefore, I don't know if I need or want it. This goes with a few other things too.

In addition, they don't know how to add. I couldn't buy from the site if I wanted to. E.g., 2 reg + 1 TX sensors 600+ hi fi voice 100+ bluetooth 100 + GPS sensor 60 = Your Price: $1,359.75?[goofydrunk][goofydrunk]

I too was quite surprised to see how expensive they are.

But the math doesn't seem to work. I put the options in as above and it totals 860. So I don't know where the extra 500 bonus from.

Lol autocorrect hammer=jammer

If you gave them ( AL Priority) a call or emailed and asked them what you need they would explain it to you. They can't understand it for you. If you read their order site correctly you Only added up the add on's. Add on's + Head unit = your price. I paid around $1,850. Plus professional installation. Don't shop Lamborghinis when you have a Toyota budget......

What does the system look like installed? Is it fairly discrete?

That was installed on my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 very discreet it was flooded in 4 feet of water for 2 weeks by Harvy. I am saving up to have it installed on my Stinger that will require cutouts into the front grill.

Sorry to hear about the MS3. How does this system compare to the K40 Defuser?

Here's a great video that also recommends the ALP over other brands.
