I was about to make the same post. [giggle]

According to the automaker's NHTSA filing, the upscale sports hatchback's wiring harnesses in the engine and passenger compartments can make contact with burrs on the left front fender panel, potentially damaging the wiring insulation and triggering a fire.

According to documents related to the recall filing, Kia is aware of at least one fire attributed to the condition. No injuries have been reported.

16,011 examples are affected by the recall campaign.

Kia will begin notifying affected owners on Dec. 20, 2018. Models under the recall will have their wiring harnesses inspected. Damaged harnesses will be repaired and a new cover will be installed. If no damage is discovered, a cover will still be installed. All inspections and repairs will be carried out free of charge to owners.

These are the types of recalls that do not like since they involve electrical fires.

2018 Kia Stinger: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 16,000 model-year 2018 Kia Stinger hatchbacks

The Problem: The front wiring harness located in the engine and passenger compartment may get damaged from contacting a burr on the left fender body panel, causing the wiring harness to short circuit and increasing the risk of a fire.

The Fix: Dealers will will inspect the wiring harness for damage. If none is found, a cover will be installed; if damage is found, the wiring harness will be repaired and a cover will be installed. Both repairs will be done for free.

What Owners Should Do: Kia will begin notifying owners Dec. 20. Owners can call the automaker at 800-333-4542, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

Has anyone looked or found the wiring location on the left fender where this damage occurs? It would be nice to check it out and make sure there is no damage starting now vs waiting until 12/20 for the recall notice. I would prefer to take a preventive step like temporary electrical tape or even a grommet until then.
