Not direct at all. It is a fact, specially on forced induction engines, a higher octane is always recommended.

Are there dyno results comparing 87 to 93 for the GT?

sometimes i put regular... sometimes i put premium...honestly it feels slightly more peppy with regular around town[sing]... maybe it pulls more timing or something

you should be using both premium and top-tier fuel (see owners manual)
Not trying to be an a-hole here . . . but, which part of the owners manual recommends premium. I've searched the owners manual and can't find this recommendation.

Agreed, the manual says 87 is ok (as a min), but recommends top tier.

For those that run tunes(like me), you definitely want to keep parity with what fuel the tune expects.

You get more power from higher octane, that's simple and known through countless dynos...if you want less power that's fine...but strange to me why one would buy a car like this and opt for less power...

I've been running an E30 blend for a couple months with my JB4 and the car loves it!

It's funny that you say that [MENTION=1486]CARmello Yellow[/MENTION], I've got a customer that tells me the exact same thing. LOL

I had an optima before this and it had the same fuel requirement in the owners manual, 87 or higher. It was a turbo optima and i tried premium. It was fwd, and with regular it would smoke the tires off the line if you floored it, but not with premium. Everyone says [dictate] "turbo cars from what i know need higher octane...93...blah ,blah etc." Thats awesome in EFI cars from the 90s - 2000+. things change, and the reason these KIA engines are more efficient and can run on regular gas is because their GDI with incredible pressure in the fuel systems and a different style of delivery, hence the reason conventional tuning methods don't always exactly work anymore. you might see a little better mpg with premium, but thats only because it doesn't need as much retard. The lower octane pulls more timing to achieve the same result and feels a lil peppier....[readthis] but thats only my opinion..

top tier does not reference octane, it is the quality the brand of gas you use, mobil, shell, exxon[dictate] you can get toptier 87

100% Premium only....there?s a reason 93 octane outperforms 91 octane tunes. Heck I?ll add WMI hopefythis summer, too.

unless you have a race chip the stinger doesn't come with a "93 tune"

I have a JB4. And I’m willing to bet a stock stinger adds more timing in vs 91 or 87 when using 93 octane.

Correct. A lower octane fuel has a tendency to detonate on a forced induction, high compression engine, like the one on the Stinger. That is why a higher octane fuel is recommended on force induction setups.

So yes, technically, the Stinger has a map/tune for 93 octane.

I always use 93 octane in my cars and In my sportbikes I always used Trick Fuel which is 110 octane, I mixed it 75% Trick Fuel an 25% Regular Fuel. The smell of race fuel, got to love it.....
