Of the different offerings (vendors) for the Stinger Catch Cans I haven't seen any with a drain. Do you have to unscrew the bottom off them to drain?
You have to dip your toe into the diesel world to find many cans with integral drains. I particularly like the Pro Vent 200 (and its numerous copies).

The TT kit that I put on my Camaro came with a bottom drain Catch Can, but all my other applications have been an unscrew affair. The unscrew are OK depending on the location of the can.

So I am getting ready to order the ADD w1 kit and wanted some input whether to go with the V3 single can dual input kit or the Dual Can kit. If one uses the single can kit what happens to the unused line? and which line is it? I think I get the concept of the dual can system in that one can services the PVC side which returns to the intake behind the throttle body and the other can services the breather side which returns to the intake between the air filter and the left side turbo.

After some more research and PVCYouTube.edu I now understand that the PVC side of the system is the outlet of the system and the breather side is the fresh air inlet. I understand the use of the catch can on the PVC side as that is where all the blowby exits the crankcase and re-enters the intake. Why would one need to place a catch can on the fresh air input side of the system? Isn't that simply fresh air ingest from the left side air filter box? What am I missing?

When you start running more boost into your engine you will get a little blowby down in your intake an turbo blades. You run a catch can on your PCV no matter what because you always get blowby an you want to keep your manifold clean.

I run the ADD W1 V3 Catch Can that I got from k8 Stinger Store on the PCV side. I don't race my car all the time but I am going to get one for the front for peace of mind. Go back on this thread an read some of my comments so you can make sure everything was installed correctly and no air leaks, the hoses were a little big but that's just me being a little anal about fitment.

I run the ADD W1 V3 Catch Can that I got from k8 Stinger Store on the PCV side. I don't race my car all the time but I am going to get one for the front for peace of mind. Go back on this thread an read some of my comments to make sure everything was installed correctly and no air leaks.

Thanks for the quick response. I am a simple driveway fixit guy that depend on forums like this to keep my vehicles running so it means a lot to get helpful responses from guys that have already walked the path I am on. I am the kind of person that needs to understand how stuff works rather than simply taking the 'this is what you do' advice. I did read the thread prior to posting and got the general jist of the whys and hows of the PVC/breather system with a little exploring under the hood to make sure I understood how the system was intended to work.
I don't race either but do succumb to some 'spirited driving' on occasion.
I have a couple more questions. I understand the PVC side simply pulls the pressure and blowby from the crankcase with manifold vacuum. Doesn't the breather on the other side do exactly the opposite? Namely allow fresh air ingest into the crankcase through the breather line to allow flow through for the vacuum on the PVC side? Do I have this wrong? If it flows in the same direction as the PVC side namely from the crankcase to the turbo input then it should be another PVC system and there would need to be another breather somewhere so the crankcase wasn't subjected to all that vacuum.
On the version 3.3 can where does the third port connect. to the crankcase on the breather side? That then puts manifold vacuum on both the PVC and breather side on the crankcase.

Sorry for all the questions but just trying to understand the mechanics behind all of this before I make a decision on what system to install.

The guy that can explain it the best is Tork motorsports, he has a youtube channel. I'm like you, I do everything myself on my car, I have a friend that owns his own shop so when I need a lift or special tools I go their.

Different car but I've run dual cans on my Challenger Hellcat. I've never accumulated anything on the inlet side (Drivers). Outlet side yes, inlet side no. Maybe the Stinger is different. Have to see what the dual can guys come up with.

The PCV side yes, you do get blowby but the OCC side you get very little to none, its their for piece of mind.

So I am leaning towards a dual can system with a check valve on the manifold line to keep the boost from pressurizing the catch can and the PCV valve. When in boost any crank pressure would be released into the breather side can because that's the only way out.
I am also looking at the ADD w1 v3.3 3 port single can system to try to understand what they are doing with that. The jury is still out on that system as it places a breather filter on the breather side crankcase input so any blow back from there vents outside. but they use 2 check valves to cause the turbo suction to maintain negative pressure on the PVC valve. In theory, this should maintain crankcase ventilation better than the dual can system, but the open breather port is sure to alert a smog inspection person.

I agree with what you're getting at. The dual can system hoses are very long for the breather side can and with the stock air filter box there's not much room to mount another can over there. The single can system, in theory, should be a better PCV system because the check valve arrangement allows positive crankcase flow regardless of manifold vacuum or boost. The fact that it renders the system 'not closed' even though PCV flow should always be maintained thru the inlet breather is a red flag to SMOG regs. Even the bone stock system under boost should slam the PCV valve shut and only allow crankcase pressure to be released backwards thru the breather and subsequently the left side airbox and turbo inlet.

The Tork boxes mount up very unobtrusively but you gotta pull them out to empty them, whereas the ADD cans are unscrew type. Plus it looks like the box on the PVC side mounts flat, so I wonder how much collection volume you get before you start sucking that crap back into your intake. Maybe his baffling system takes care of that. Certainly his boxes are less conspicuous in the engine bay.

The reason why I went with the ADD W1 Catch Can on the PCV side instead of Torks setup is I wanted to be able too see it but the OCC side there is not to many places to mount a catch can, that's why I'm going with Torks, plus you don't have to empty it very much. Tork will weld drains on your catch cans for I think 10.00 dollars extra.

I have installed the ADD w1 can on the PVC side. I used the 2 port can and may be adding a separate check valve. Not sure what I am going to do if anything on the breather side. I didn't care for the big angle bracket that came with the Stinger kit to mount to the wheel well studs so I fabbed a bracket to bolt up to the manifold bracket using the small tab bracket that comes with the OCC. 20190525_162520.jpg 20190525_162451.jpg
