bikerdude let me know how your car responds and sounds with the dual K&N?s. I am considering them and would appreciate your first hand experience.

We've got a few of those intakes in stock if you decide to grab one!

@mike@importshark do you know if Jun B.l is going to offer a slip on version of their exhausts?

What do you mean a slip on version? I'm not familiar with the term.

I think the term stems from the motorcycle world where a slip-on refers to just the muffler ?end? without all the additional piping to keep costs down. You typically lose some performance keeping the smaller diameter pipes. Slip-ons are typically used to enhance sound and get minimal performance gains.

You will be better off by keeping the factory boxes as those are true CAI's. The exposed filers on the current intakes for the Stinger will only hinder performance as the warm air in the engine bay will be getting sucked in, even with heat shields installed. A proper solution will be one that moves the filters behind the grill, away form the engine bay or one that encloses the filters in a box and routes the cold air from the front to the CAI via ducts.

Hmm, do you mean a muffler delete maybe? The Stinger has two pieces finishing off the exhaust, which are the muffler sections. I just happen to be working with a company that is making a muffler delete kit. Some may refer to this as an axleback type exhaust.

There was a video made not too long ago that showed certain short ram intakes had the same or better performance than the OEM air box. The main reasoning for temps staying consistent and NOT being warmed was the fact that while the car is in motion, air is filtering through the engine bay and intake pipe itself. Most new cars have OEM air ducting as well that route air strategically to where intakes put their filters. Granted, not all are designed this way, but in the case of the Stinger, for example, it would certainly apply. Not only would air feed into the filter from around the headlights and grill areas, but there?s air ducting built in. Of course, if you?re talking about the car being completely stationary, then naturally this wouldn?t apply. I?ll try to find that vid later on. It was really well done.

Btw, I agree that basic short rams generally aren?t ideal and a heat shield might help, but on the flip side the filters really aren?t continually heating up as the car is driven. I have seen some of those heat shield style intakes get really hot due to the metal surrounding the filter, though factors there can also be attributed to how sealed the engine bay too. It?s an interesting discussion for sure.

I just installed mine and love it. Just a little bit of gas and you can hear her sucking in the air. When you do give it some gas and let off you get your Pssh sound and pretty damn loud too for just the intake. Almost as loud as having an actual blow off on my Optima SX. It definitely gives a head turner when popping the hood at meets/shows. The filters are right at the air inlet from the OEM box and a fairly easy install over all.

@mike@importshark no, it?s not a muffler delete. It?s an aftermarket muffler. But JUST the muffler itself and it can be ?slipped on? without welding or anything. Sounds like there may not be anything like that in the auto world.

Here?s an example from moto:
https://www.motosport.com/product/?...82b28ae52b_t-1517102880&segment=badger-street
Ah, just saw this now. Honestly I think there's good reason for it not being an option in the auto scene--primarily due to the fact that flanges would prevent the ability to slip right on. Also, there's no bare pipe of the stock exhaust sitting there to do this. Maybe I'm not visualizing what you're trying to get at, but from my POV it just wouldn't work on our cars or pretty much any other that I've had experience with. Either way, nothing designed for the Stinger will require cutting or modification of the stock setup, that's for sure.

In addition to everything you've mentioned the car also cools air before it reaches the engine via the intercooler.

Nice. I would love to hear/see a clip if you are able to record and post a video of it. Thanks!

+1
With turbo'd vehicles it really comes down to the efficiency of intercooler cooling the air since the air entering the intake goes right into the turbo and heats up

He's got one with the intakes and Lap3 chip installed. I was sent it through Facebook messenger or else I'd post it up for him :D

Sounds amazing!

Would like to get a video sample too, it'll help me decide as I'm too old for really loud intakes.
