This car is full with surprises, I asked the dealer what plugs the Stinger used when they replaced them in my friends car and they said NGK, and I was like it should be Denso. I had to check my car and sure enough when I removed it, it was an NGK Iridium. These are the plugs that came with the car. The Reddish colouring is normal, just the additives in the unleaded fuel.

SIL ZFR7A-9G

S : Special Square Platinum Chip in Ground Electrode
I : Iridium Centre Electrode and Platinum Ground
L : Extra Long Reach Thread
Z : Extended Gap (Extra Projection)
F : Thread 14mm, Pitch 1.25mm, Reach 19mm, Hex 16mm
R : Resistor
7 : Heat Range
A : Design Series
9 : 0.036 Gap
G : Copper Core Ground Electrode

Not too sure about the G code, I believe it is just a special addition to the lettering for OEM plugs.

Anywho, this is a 7 heat range Iridium plug which means KIA means business when they put it. I think just regapping too .028 should do the trick for up to 450+ whp.

That's a pretty big gap at 0.036 for forced induction.

OEM plugs even for turbo models usually come gapped at 0.043 (code 11), the 0.036 gap (code 9) is a special order apparently done for KIA exclusively. This is all my assumption though because I couldn't find any of the Iridium plugs from ngk pregapped with code 9.

FYI, even the Denso's (FXU16HR11) that are supposedly the OEM plugs for the Stinger in the US are gapped at 0.043.

Interesting they would use different plugs in different markets.

Interesting....Highly doubt the plugs on the US spec or any spec (where 3.3 TT is offered) are any different.
Manufacturers usually stick with the same parts for their engines, as this will reduce their costs and reduce troubleshooting time when something fails under warranty.
Thanks for sharing your findings.

Wow. Guess I'm used to Iridiums on my Ecoboost gap range of 0.028 - 0.031.

Any idea where we can get stock or near-stock replacement plugs for this vehicle? I'm looking to re-gap mine, but I've seen where people have removed their stock plugs and they are cracked (without any indication). I would hate to go through all of the pain to pull the plugs I have only to find that they're no good.

Also, I've heard a lot of people replacing their plugs with the HKS 45iL. Those are two steps colder, and I'm thinking they might foul early. Why wouldn't we go with the HKS M35 iL if it's the same heat range?

I just went through the same predicament and ended up ordering the HKS M40iL plugs. They are 1 step colder. If the stock plugs look good when I pull them, then I'll re-gap them and save them

Can somebody confirm that these Denso's are also OEM plugs for the Stinger 3.3T, all the posts I have seen so far have shown that when they removed there OEM plugs they were NGKs.

Also these Denso's are 16 heat range which is NGK 5 equivalent this is a very hot plug for a turbo engine, the Denso's also have a huge gap at 0.43. Hard to believe these will work well on the Stinger, since people are already struggling with the NGK at 7 heat range and 0.36 gap.

Can you please elaborate, because both the Heat Range and Gap are completely different between the NGK and Denso.

So are the Denso interchangeable with the NGK SIL ZFR7A-9G? I can't seem to find the SIL ZFR7A-9G anywhere online.
