has anyone come across a good detailed badge replacement tutorial?
i just took off the front emblem and scratched the paint in the process.
i tried fishing line and dental floss and the friction heat just keeps breaking the line . then i also tried fine wire but it broke as well. so i tried a heat gun and a plastic scraper. it came off but i scratched the paint. now i need to get all the sticky foam off with out making things worse. i wish i had of started at the back end first.
im off to the dealer for a touch up pen.

the new badge will not cover the scratch on the right. i bought a paint pen from kia today. ill post a new pic when done.
the cold weather here may be hindering the job. is hoovering around the freezing point here.
after watching a few videos it seems i could have used more heat.

Oh boy that is bad. I think it was the scraper that scratched your paint. The key is to heat the emblem up first then use fishing line like in the video below.

yes i watched that very video. thats what makes me think the cold weather uphere and me not adding enough heat added to the difficulty. in that video he burnt his hand just touching the emblem for a second. on the other hand there may be a fine line there. i was also afraid if i added too much head that the protective film they put on the front could have gotten damaged.
i will have another go at it tomorrow. i shouldnt have as much trouble on the back now that i know i can add more heat.

That exact thing happened to me so I put the Kia badge back on in the front and put the ?E? badge in the back

i started with the string method and then went to a plastic scraper. just trying to get the plastic scraper behind the badge was all it took. i even sanded the end of the scraper thinner, not sure it heat softened the pain or it was simply toooo much aggression. maybe both?
i will be fixing it today.

yeah I screwed the pooch on my emblem switch as well. Accidentally boiled the paint with my heat gun and small scratch in rear . Fortunately the big K emblem in back covered my mistakes. Bummed as I wanted to do Stinger script but it didn't cover my errors. Front came off with no issue. I think lots of patience and taping surrounding area important. I have some thin pick like tools that went under emblem ok. And it was just slow process of pulling emblem up as I ran line under emblem.

JRamire90 does the E emblem sit flush in the rear?

So the emblem is off a tad bit because of the fact the back of the vehicle is more curves that the hood... I?ll post a pic in 20 min when I?m done getting ready for work.. but so far I have had zero issues
